i need to keep a daily journal for my internship programme. supposed to email them after its over so im just gonna blog everyday its easier. be bored.

today was the first day of school =)

it felt like all other firsts.

I was excited but nervous at the same time. I was amazed by my 'earliness'. (i reached at 640 when it was supposed to be 7 and 20 min earlier in the morning is a lot)
just the week before i have been sleeping at 3 and waking up at 11.

the principal really left an impression when i heard her speak during assembly. she just had that principee feel. we were introduced in front of the whole school. thank goodness they didnt make us introduce ourselves i wouldnt have known what to say haha.

we were warned not to reveal our age, which means not to reveal our school and anything about school, which means i really dont have anything to introduce about myself actually. =) the bell was really loud. somebody actually hits this huge bell for assembly. during assembly? never stand next to the bell. simply annoying.

anyway she also said during assembly that research shows that boys often overestimate themselves and underestimate their challenges. it was so true it was funny.

my supervisor's really nice. my first lesson that i observed was the top sec 3 physics class. they were learning vernier calipers like omg. i haven touched one since five years ago! the teacher was really very systematic. she knew exactly what instructions to give to prevent chaos when everyone stands up to grab their lab equipment. and she categorised the instruments into small, medium and large, making it much easier to understand. i walked around, pretending to know how to use a vernier calipers and praying like crazy they wouldn ask me any questions. thank goodnesss the only question i got was, "how to spell vernier calipers?"

anyway, i think i might (MIGHT) actually like sas. but because i haven personally dealt with the students yet its hard to say. it feels a lot like st nicks, i dont really know how to say it. theres prayers, the urber long morning assembly, the principal who does remind me a little of st nicks principal, the students running the school themselves, being a single sex school (although its the other sex), having the junior school within the same compound, the way they greet the teachers "thank you good bye and god bless", similar to st nicks, "thank you good bye and have a nice day" it definitely feels more homey than my jc. took me a while to get rid of that thank you goodbye and have a nice day greeting in nj.

anyway we were left very much alone the first day to explore the school. the school compound is quite small actually. the canteen is tiny. the teachers (colleagues?? i think im still more used to calling them mr/mdm something). but you should see them teach. waa. damn fierce sia. i scared. the music teacher was like making the students line up in this really stern scary voice then she turned and smiled at us then when she looked back at her students her smile instantly vanished. haha teachers are great actors.

sas did leave a good impression. the students are really polite, they address their teachers as sirs and maams. i guess its a boys school thing. but heyy im a maam! hahaha.

and i ended school at like 2 plus. its like working half day every day. stayed and watched them get back results, and went for this teacher meeting on O level results. sas did pretty well i think.

i went swimming after that. so tired now. there was this guy who looked buff but swam like a snail. i cannot swim well and i haven exercise for 6 months i can swim faster than him leh thats how slow he was. we were the only 2 ppl in the pool but i felt quite embarrassed cause i kept overtaking him but i really wasnt trying to be funny or anything he was just so slow that even when i tried my best not to swim alongside him i would after a while.

im looking forward to school tmr =)
