choices.
i think studying is a very self reflecting thing.
the past few weeks ive been wondering what ive been studying for.
i love gp lessons. there was once in class, just recently, where my gp tutor asked what we were studying for. it went something like that. (its pretty amazing how i can remember gp, geog and art lessons so vividly while i am totally clueless of what goes on in math or econs lessons the minute i step out of class)
us : but we have no choice.
her: really?
us: yea. we need to get our As.
her: so why do you need to get As? is it necessary?
us. yea. we need to get into good universities.
her: really? and do you have to get into good universities?
us: of course. a good degree will ensure us a good future.
her: and what is a good future?
us: (mixed responses) helping others, material well being, stable jobs, good family relationships...we cannot slow down. once we do, we will drop out of the race.
her:
do you need to stay on top of the race?us: yes. once we slow down,
we will no longer be able to catch up. her: and why do you need to catch up? why do you have to be at the top? you choose to be at the top. you can choose not to lead luxurious lives, you can choose not to study so hard, you can choose to be satisfied with a couple of Bs,
you always have a choice.that lesson got me really confused actually.
i love lessons where i actually need to think and reflect on things.
so maybe there really issnt a need to be brilliant.
no need to be the top 5 %.
no need to be in some prestigious university.
no need to earn big bucks.
but right now, all i know is i need to study hard for A levels.
get it over and down with.
and ill think about it.
