okay. since i blogged about music, ill blog about art now. =)
please dont ask me what do we do during art lessons. ive heard it a gazillion times. (and have recently been asked again)
because most people already have this deep-rooted misconception that all art students can draw and paint very well and all we do is draw. draw. paint.
this misconception further enhanced by our recent "uob painting of the year" exhibition in the canteen.
some of us spent the whole june holidays in the art room living on japanese crackers. painting.
its not that we can paint. but we put a lot of effort and a whole lot of pride into our work. because its OURS. plus excellent guidance from our teachers.
and drawing. thats the basic fundamentals laaaa. you cant draw you cant present your ideas and concepts well you cant do anything. the teachers dont teach us to draw. (bet you didnt know that) theres no such thing as "i cant draw". they only make us practice drawing. and the only thing that they teach us is how to look at things through different perspectives.
it all boils down to practice. (which sadly i havent been very diligently doing)
and heres to clear the misconception.
art encompasses
very traditional forms like drawing, painting and sculpturing.
and fashion design, installations, jewellery design, interior design, architecture, 2-D and 3-D animation, product design, video works, earth art the list goes on.
please dont ask me what we do during art lessons.
ill tell you drawing and painting.
