hiatus.

i am a mugger. i need to mug.
but before that, let me just comment about school.
oh wait, as a true blue mugger, i shall do it in GP format.

"The school is on a downhill track." Do you agree?

The term downhill track refers to a negative state in which the school is in, in the arena of academics, sports, arts, school spirit and personal development of its students. Although the school still maintains a certain level of achievement in academics and in the arts, it is an undeniable fact that sports, school spirit and personal development are going “downhill”.

In the sports arena, sports once considered to be “confirm top 4 one la” have lost their title as such. This is a very pertinent issue as it does not involve a single sport, but a few sports co-curriculum activities. These sports ccas claim to have not enough funding from the school and not even a venue to conduct their trainings, having to resort to going out of school to train. However, as this is an syf year, the school does not have enough funding to go around, after painting the walls in the canteen orange and naming the stalls names like “Mambo No. 5”. This is of course a pleasant change even if one does not like orange. Many also do recognize the fact that the school is trying to up its school image. However, won’t winning a couple more sports titles add even more points to school image?

Talking about school image, this sentence sums it all up, “Huh what image? I need to mug”. The school has a positive image of being a school that has a majority of students who work very hard to be academically inclined, and to be.. erm academically able. One example is during physical education class. As the name suggests, “physical education” means that we are supposed to be educated physically. There are some who particularly take to the sport of holding a pen and writing numbers on a piece of paper, a sport which builds strong finger muscles. This should certainly be a relatively new sport in other schools. If this was introduced as a national schools’ sport, there is no question that the school will bring back the champion trophy.

Of course, this sport is greatly practiced by all not only during physical education classes, but practically 24/7 as well. There seems to be an endless list of math tutorials, having completed one and happily striking it our from our homework books do we realize that we still have another one due the next week. Even tuition teachers get a big shock at the amount of integration tutorials we have to complete. However, this endless training does ensure that that students of the school have excellent results year after year.

One may counter that despite encountering some minor hiccups here and there, the school still does very well in the arts and is not neglecting the sports by building a synthetic field. Judging from the quality of the concerts and performances, I daresay the school is doing very well in the arts. However, this should not be the only aspect other than academics that the school should focus on. The synthetic field is warmly welcomed by a majority in the sports arena. Nevertheless, the school should not just put all their eggs in one basket as one of these years, we might end up losing some of our championship titles though there are not many to count in the first place.

To conclude, some aspects of the school are in face going on a very steep downhill track while other aspects are climbing. The sustained achievement in sports will not be sustained for very much longer if the school does not sustain it. To sustain this achievement is to bring the image of the school to a higher level and in turn motivate more muggers to consider joining other ccas instead of always going to the library for class outings.

Pardon my structure. Not very GP like.

I hope my GP teacher will vet my essay and give me comments so that I will get A for my promos.
