in the first time in history, njc strings has achieved a GOLD in syf!!
my first and last syf.
GOLD.
late night rehearsals, freezing lts, sprained wrists, arguments, breakdowns, everything was worth it. frankly speaking i wasnt nervous until when i stepped into singapore conference hall. everything was so.. fast. wait, take out instruments, put on rosin, into the tuning room, out, onto the stage and down. and it was over.
it was a good performance, not our best, but good. so many accidents happened. 3 pegs slipped, which rendered some of the players unable to play. the whole thing was kinda messy and apparently some hc guy said we sucked.
the wait for our results was such a long wait. i swear the atmosphere in singapore conference hall makes people feel like sleeping!! most of us were kinda anticipating a bronze or even cop but praying for a silver. and then the results came. when they announced vj's results which was before ours, kim was grabbing me so hard and saying, "not a bronze, please not a bronze". and i kept telling her, "it's not gonna be a bronze" though inside i was praying so hard it wasnt a bronze. and then,
"National Junior College... GOLD."
we sat there for a split second in stunned silence. and then all of us started screaming and crying at the same time. we screamed louder than the other schools who got gold with honours! it was quite hilarious really. its pretty hard to describe the moments that followed, the emotions flying.
thank you strings. im so proud to have gone for syf with such awesome people.
and thank you to all our supporters, audrey, zai and friend and everyone else.
and of course, thank you ms ong, and mr tan, though you have weird hair you still rock.
and thats it. SYF 2007 NJC STRINGS ENSEMBLE - GOLD.
michelle asked me today,
"is your plastic stick more expensive or your wooden stick?"
ill think about it.
