the past two days were truly magical. i dont know how else to describe them, but they were amazing.

just for my own keepsake:

it was our Macrithie Regatta 500 race, held at Seletar. (dont ask me why its called Macritchie Regatta) only the junior team and the ips were there. at first, i thought we were just there to put it nicely in mr y's words "to gain experience", in other words, to get thrashed. half the team had never touched a dragonboat paddle before, much less trained in a dragonboat. and hello? we were the only junior college there, racing against all the big guys like ntu and nus. i think we were the youngest team there. small cute and cuddly against all the big guys with the big muscles. i really thought we were gonna go there and lag behind everyone else. but i was wrong. the junior team really proved me wrong.

my first race was my k1 race. i did not race the way i trained. it was crap.

second race was the women's tertiary heats. we did pretty well, coming in first in our heats.

my last race of the day, was the tertiary mixed heats.
whoa. this was THE RACE. i could feel the burning passion of the boat, and we rowed with so much heart that i cried when i finished the race. first time mann. haha. we thrashed everyone else, our timing was even better than any other boats in the mixed open event.

day 2.
first race was the women's open semi finals. this was one good boat too. we came in first.

second race was the tertiary mixed finals. this was the most disappointing race. we rowed with as much heart as before. i could feel that everyone in the boat really wanted it. and we wanted it real bad. but our direction screwed up. we almost banged into another boat. but it was really all out. you could feel the disappointment when we went on shore. nobody said a word. nobody. there was really nothing left to say. but we did not row as individuals. we rowed together. as a team. and its all that matters.

third race was the womens tertiary finals. it was a good race. we came in first! this boat really rowed hard too.

last race was the womens open finals. mr y was our drummer. he had high hopes on us. fantastic race too. my second favourite race. was really all that we had got. the passion. the desire. second i think.

we had nothing. no experience. no training. all we had was the passion. the grit. and a whole lot of HEART. i am so proud of our junior team. i am so proud to be part of this team. this amazing team. with a whole lot of amazing people. even without our seniors, we are still a force to be reckoned with.

njcanoeing. HEART AND SOUL. GO THE DISTANCE.
