Teamtalks

It was IHG Floorball last weekend and a friend made an interesting comment about men and women when playing sports - our team talks differ.

According to him, male team talks are like,

"f*** you, WTH were you doing out there?!"
"You bloody hell get the freaking ball!"
"It was a f***ing circus out there"

that sort of thing. Fierce, loud, and just plain vulgar.

But he was listening in on our team talk and it was like,

"let's go girls! yayy! we can do this!"
"we played well but we can play better!"

Basically it was non-vulgar, a lot of love, hugs and kisses and he said it reminded him of a cheerleading team. (btw floorball is a contact sport so it can get very fierce and rough, even for women teams)

So it made me wonder - why the difference? Is it because men and women go into sports with different aims? I can't quite figure it out but it was a very intriguing observation.
